I am so disappointed in this whole situation - from the cemetery situation to the dog park situation and the exchange above. My walks in the cemetery were my stress relief of the day, also visiting my parents' grave was my therapy. My schedule doesn't allow for two separate visits so I had to give up the visits. I don't understand why a rule is now being enforced arbitrarily from a decades old book -- the other rules stated in such book are not enforced - no bicycles, no perennials. I remain steadfast in my opinion as I expressed in the newspaper that there is no good reason that dogs should be kept out of our peaceful, beautiful cemetery, full of passed loved ones who adored their pets. It is difficult for me to walk in other places, the one I have tried was close to homes that target shoot - that made me nervous. There are other dogs on my street, and my dog is nervous with them; we have had some unfortunate issues with dog scuffles. It just doesn't work for me - the 2.7 miles don't work for me. It makes no sense. If there are persons who do not obey the leash law, or curbing their pet, fine them! We ticket and fine speeders (while not disallowing all cars on the road). Glenwood Blvd has a speed limit of 20 - many, many cars there do not follow that rule. I love the idea of a dog park, and would support it as a taxpayer even if I did not use it (it is not for all dogs) just as I don't use the skateboard park or have children in school any longer or fish in Oakdale - I still support them as a part of society. But my most concern is - Why not allow the people who live here to choose if we want a dog park by a vote? Or a law in the cemetery? I don't understand the rule that has been imposed, if there is no penalty, no law on the books, no fine - what does it mean if there is a sign with no penalty behind it? I don't want to break the law, or rules, but I just don't understand...

Unfortunately, people choose to ignore rules/regulations/laws everyday. But that does not make all people & dog owners "criminals".
So, walk your dogs & sin no more.
How do we know you didn't make up that whole back and forth? It isn't attributed to anyone, so for all we know that was a dialogue between Sam Pratt and the mayor, and he just claimed to get it sent to him. Or it could be the gossips woman, as sam and carole are part of the "don't need to be accountable in reporting" club.

Wow. Sometimes I just wish I didn't know about this blog and Gossips of Rivertown, because 99 percent of what is reported is so dispiriting. It seems like the city government here will do anything to take away any small joys we who live here might have, and make it just that much harder for visitors as well. Hiding behind "taxes" and using demonstrations of public support for change as reasons NOT to make an improvement is just so useless . I just got a new issue of Yankee magazine where Wickford, Rhode Island, was touted as a great place to live and visit and a lot of mentions were made of it being dog friendly, and that wasn't even the topic. Another glossy magazine touted Capitola, California, for its friendly lifestyle and made a whole point about how the Esplanade businesses go out of their way to welcome dogs.

With Hudson, it's almost like we should advocate for the opposite of what we want. Then we'd be more likely to get it.
